In a zero-based budget every dollar of income is assigned a job until income minus expenses equals zero. Assign your money category by category and watch "Left to budget" count down to $0.00.
Zero-based doesn't mean spending everything โ savings, investing, and debt payoff are jobs a dollar can have. It means no money sits unassigned. When the remaining figure hits zero, every dollar has a plan.
How to use it: Budget only money you actually have, not money you expect. If "Left to budget" is negative, you've assigned more than you earn โ cut categories until it's back to zero. Everything except the worksheet is stripped from the printout automatically, so what you see is what prints. To keep a copy, choose "Save as PDF" as the destination in the print dialog โ no software to install.
